Mission Briefing
God Knows What You Need – and He Will Provide!
Have you ever worried about whether you’d have enough? Paul was in prison when he wrote these words, and yet he was completely at peace! He knew something powerful: God sees every need and promises to provide. This mission explores Philippians 4:18-19.
What Does Philippians 4:18-19 Mean?
Paul was thanking the church in Philippi for sending him a gift while he was in prison. He called their generosity a sweet-smelling offering to God – meaning that when we give to help others, God is pleased! Then Paul made an amazing promise: the same God who accepted their generous gift would take care of all their needs too. God’s supply doesn’t run out, because it comes from His infinite riches.
Hero Challenge
Write down three needs you have right now – they can be small or big. Then pray over each one, telling God you trust Him to provide. Come back in a week and see which ones He has already answered!
Did You Know?
The church in Philippi was one of Paul’s favourite communities because they consistently gave to support his mission work. Paul used the words “fragrant offering” – a phrase from the Old Testament used to describe sacrifices in the temple – to show that their giving was truly an act of worship to God.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Can you name three things God has given you that you are thankful for today?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Paul was in prison but still felt taken care of. How do you think he was able to feel peaceful in such a hard situation?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
The verse says God supplies needs “according to his riches in glory” – not according to our circumstances. What does that tell us about where we should look when we’re worried about not having enough?
♥ Mission Prayer
Lord, thank You for promising to meet every need I have. Help me trust You when things seem hard, and remind me that Your supply never runs out. Amen.
