Mission Briefing
God Throws Your Sins Into the Sea!
Imagine taking all your mistakes and throwing them into the deepest part of the ocean where no one could ever find them again. That is exactly the picture Micah paints of what God does with our sins – and it is incredible! This mission explores Micah 7:18-19.
What Does Micah 7:18-19 Mean?
Micah is praising God because there is no one else like Him in the whole universe. Other rulers and judges hold onto people’s wrongs and use them against them – but not God. He is so full of love that He chooses to forgive and wipe the record clean. He takes our sins and throws them so deep into the sea that they are gone forever.
Hero Challenge
This week, every time you feel weighed down by something you did wrong, picture yourself standing at the edge of the ocean and throwing that mistake as far out as you can. Then pray and give it to God for real. He has promised to do exactly that with your sins!
Did You Know?
Micah was a prophet who lived around 700 BC, during a time when the people of Israel had made a lot of mistakes and turned away from God. Even in that dark time, Micah was full of hope because he knew God’s character. No matter how far people had wandered, Micah believed God’s love and forgiveness were stronger.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
If you threw something into the really deep ocean, could you get it back? What does that tell you about how God forgives us?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Micah says God “delights in steadfast love.” What do you think it means that God actually enjoys showing love and forgiveness to us?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Micah wrote this during a very hard time in Israel’s history. How does hope in God’s forgiveness and compassion help us keep going even when we or those around us have made serious mistakes?
♥ Mission Prayer
God, who is like You? No one! Thank You for casting my sins into the depths of the sea and delighting in Your love for me. Help me to trust in Your compassion today and to share that same compassion with the people in my life. Amen.
