Micah 6:8

19 August 2024 · Hero Mission
God has already shown you what is good and what He wants from you: be fair to others, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God — that's it. (Paraphrased for younger readers — original: Micah 6:8 NIV)
Micah 6:8

Mission Briefing

Sometimes people make following God sound really complicated, like there’s a huge list of rules to memorise and boxes to tick. But in Micah 6:8, the prophet cuts straight to the point. The question is “what does the Lord require?” – and the answer is three things: act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God. Three clear, simple, powerful things. Not easy, but simple. There’s a difference.

Act justly means treat people fairly – don’t cut in line, don’t take more than your share, stand up for someone being treated wrong. Love mercy means don’t just tolerate kindness, actually love it – enjoy being gracious, enjoy forgiving, enjoy giving people another chance. Walk humbly means stay close to God and remember that you’re not the most important person in every room. Together, these three things describe someone with incredible character.

What Does Micah 6:8 Mean?

You don’t need to wait until you’re grown up to live this verse. Right now, today, you can be fair in how you treat your siblings and friends. You can choose mercy when someone hurts you. You can stay humble instead of always trying to be the best or the most noticed. Micah 6:8 isn’t a list of burdens – it’s a blueprint for a beautiful life that actually matters.

Mission Activity

Draw three boxes on paper and label them: ACT JUSTLY / LOVE MERCY / WALK HUMBLY. In each box, write or draw one specific way you could live that out today – with real names and real situations from your actual life. At the end of the day, come back and colour in each box you managed to do.

♥ Mission Prayer

Dear God, sometimes I think living for You must be really complicated — but this verse reminds me it's actually clear. Help me to be fair. Help me to love being kind. And help me to stay humble and close to You in everything I do. These three things — I want to grow in all of them. Amen.
