Mission Briefing
You Are Worth More Than Every Bird in the Sky!
Have you ever stayed up at night worrying about something – school, friends, what’s going to happen? Jesus looked at His friends one day and said something amazing: stop worrying! And then He pointed to the birds to show them why. This mission explores Matthew 6:25-26.
What Does Matthew 6:25-26 Mean?
Jesus is telling us that worry doesn’t add anything to our lives – but trust in God does! Birds don’t plant crops or run to the store – yet every morning they wake up and find food. God takes care of them without them stressing about it. And here’s the really good news: you are worth so much more to God than any bird. If He takes care of them, He will absolutely take care of you too.
Hero Challenge
Go outside this week and spend five quiet minutes watching birds. Notice how they just… live. They sing, they fly, they find food. Let it remind you that God is taking care of all of creation – including you. Come back inside and thank God for one way He has provided for you this week.
Did You Know?
Jesus gave this teaching as part of a longer speech called the Sermon on the Mount, where He talked about what truly matters in life. Scientists estimate there are around 200 to 400 billion birds on Earth – and God provides for every single one of them. He knows every sparrow that falls (Matthew 10:29), so He certainly knows and cares about you!
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Who takes care of the birds and gives them food every day? Who takes care of you?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Jesus says you are worth more than the birds. How does knowing that make you feel when you start to worry?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Worry is a real feeling – Jesus didn’t pretend it isn’t. But He gives us a reason not to worry. What practical steps can you take to replace worry with trust in God?
♥ Mission Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for taking care of every bird and every creature — and most of all, for taking care of me. Help me not to worry but to trust that You will provide everything I need. Amen.
