Mission Briefing
What Does Your Heart Love Most?
If someone could peek inside your heart today, what would they find there? Jesus said that wherever we keep our most prized treasure, that is exactly where our heart lives too – and He wants us to think carefully about that! This mission explores Matthew 6:21.
What Does Matthew 6:21 Mean?
Jesus is not just talking about money or stuff. He is saying that whatever we love most – whatever we think about, spend time on, and care about deeply – that becomes the treasure of our heart. If we treasure God, our heart stays close to Him. If we treasure video games, popularity, or things that fade away, our heart chases after those instead. The good news is that we get to choose what we treasure!
Hero Challenge
Make a list of five things you spent the most time on or thought about most this past week. Be honest with yourself! Then ask: are these things treasures that last, or treasures that fade? Share your list with a parent and talk about one way to treasure God more this week.
Did You Know?
Jesus said this as part of the Sermon on the Mount – one of His biggest teaching sessions ever, with crowds of people listening on a hillside. He was teaching people that real treasure is not found in things moths can eat or rust can destroy, but in a relationship with God that lasts forever.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
What is your most favorite toy or thing? Now – is God even more important to you than that? Why?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
How can you tell what someone really treasures most, just by watching how they spend their time?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Jesus said our heart follows our treasure. What practical steps can you take to make sure your heart is pointed toward God – especially when other things are competing for your attention?
♥ Mission Prayer
Lord, help me to treasure You more than anything else in my life. When I start caring too much about things that do not last, gently remind me to turn my heart back to You. You are the greatest treasure of all. Amen.
