Shining Lights: Letting Our Good Deeds Point to God
Verse Of The Day:
"In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)
Imagine carrying a bright lantern in a dark place. Your light helps others see where to go and feel safe. That’s what Jesus says we are in Matthew 5:16—shining lights! When we do good things, like being kind, helping others, and sharing love, we are letting our lights shine, and those around us can see God’s love through us.
Jesus wants us to be like bright lights in the world, showing people who God is by the way we live. Our good deeds aren’t just for making ourselves look good—they point others to God. When people see the kindness and love we share, it brings glory to God and shows them that He is real and powerful.
No matter how big or small the good things we do are, they all shine brightly when done for God. From helping a friend to praying for someone, our actions show others that God is good and that His love is alive in our hearts.
Shining Light Lantern Craft:
Create a “Shining Light Lantern” at home! Use a paper cup or jar and decorate it with words like “Kindness,” “Love,” “Helping,” and “Faith.” You can also cut out small shapes like stars or hearts to represent the light shining through. Place a small LED candle or flashlight inside to remind you that your good deeds are like shining lights, helping others see God’s love. This craft helps kids understand that their actions reflect God’s light in the world.
Time For A Prayer:
Dear God, thank You for giving us the chance to be lights in this world. Help us to do good things that point others to You. Teach us to live in a way that makes Your love known, and may our actions always bring glory to You. Help us to shine brightly for You every day. Amen.
Keep shining, Faith Force Shining Lights! Until our next Divine Dispatch, remember that your good deeds are like bright lights that help others see God’s love. Let’s shine brightly and bring glory to God in all that we do!
