Mission Briefing
Are You Really Listening?
Jesus said something surprising: not everyone who hears His words actually LISTENS to them. He wants heroes who don’t just let words bounce off – but who really take them in and let them change their lives! This mission explores Mark 4:9.
What Does Mark 4:9 Mean?
After telling the Parable of the Sower – a story about different kinds of soil and how people receive God’s Word – Jesus said this. He meant that listening isn’t just about your ears picking up sound. Real listening means letting what you hear sink deep into your heart and actually doing something about it. It’s the difference between watching a cooking show and actually making the meal!
Hero Challenge
This week, after hearing a Bible verse, a sermon, or even a devotion like this one, write down one thing you will actually DO because of it. Then do it! Turn listening into living – that’s what a hero does.
Did You Know?
Jesus often ended His parables with this phrase as a kind of wake-up call. He knew that some people would hear His stories and walk away unchanged, while others would let the truth transform them. The Parable of the Sower in Mark 4 is one of the few parables Jesus explained in detail to His disciples!
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
When someone tells you something important, what do you do to show you really listened? Can you think of a way to listen better to God’s words?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
What is the difference between just hearing words and really listening to them and doing what they say? Can you think of a time when you really listened and it changed something?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
In the Parable of the Sower, different soils represent different kinds of listeners. What kind of “soil” do you want to be, and what do you need to do to stay that way?
♥ Mission Prayer
Lord, give me ears that truly hear and a heart that is ready to receive Your words. Help me not just to listen but to live out what I learn. Make Your Word take deep root in me.
