Mission Briefing
The Leader Who Kneels
What if the best leaders weren’t the ones giving orders, but the ones doing the hard work for everyone else? Jesus said that’s exactly how it works in His kingdom – and He proved it! This mission explores Luke 22:26-27.
What Does Luke 22:26-27 Mean?
At the Last Supper, the disciples were arguing about who would be the most important in Jesus’ kingdom. Jesus gently corrected them. He pointed out that in the world, the person sitting at the table being served has all the honor. But Jesus – the greatest of all – was the one doing the serving. He washed dirty feet. He gave up everything. That’s the kind of leader He calls us to be.
Hero Challenge
This week, take on a job that someone else usually does – set the table, take out the trash, or help a younger sibling with something hard. Do it cheerfully, as a leader who serves. Tell yourself: “I’m doing this the Jesus way.”
Did You Know?
Later that very night, Jesus got up from the table and washed each disciple’s feet – a job normally done by the lowliest servant. It was so shocking that Peter refused to let Jesus do it at first. Jesus showed that real leadership is about love, not power.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
What is one job at home that you could help with today to serve your family?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Jesus was the most important person in the room, but He served everyone else. What does that teach us about what makes someone a great leader?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Most people think leaders give orders and others obey. Jesus completely flipped that idea. How would your school, team, or friend group change if everyone tried to out-serve each other instead of out-rank each other?
♥ Mission Prayer
Jesus, You are the greatest leader who ever lived, yet You chose to serve. Help me follow Your example and lead by serving others, even when it feels hard or unnoticed. Make me a humble, servant-hearted hero. Amen.
