Freedom is one of the best feelings in the world. But what if the key to the deepest kind of freedom wasn’t a place, a person, or a thing – but the truth? Jesus says something jaw-dropping about this! This mission explores John 8:32.
What Does John 8:32 Mean?
Jesus said these words to people who were beginning to follow Him, and He was talking about knowing God’s truth – His Word, His ways, and ultimately Himself. When we know the truth about who God is and who we are to Him, it frees us from fear, shame, lies, and the weight of trying to earn our place. Truth is like a light that shows us the way out of darkness. The more you know God’s truth, the freer you become on the inside.
Hero Challenge
Pick one lie that you sometimes believe about yourself – like “I’m not good enough,” “nobody likes me,” or “I always mess up.” Then find a Bible verse that tells you the truth instead. Write the truth down and repeat it every day this week whenever that lie shows up in your mind.
Did You Know?
In the very next verse, Jesus says “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). This means that when He says the truth will set you free, He’s also saying HE will set you free. Truth isn’t just information – it’s a Person. Knowing Jesus is knowing truth!

Jesus, You are the truth, and I want to know You more every day. Help me to believe what You say about me more than what fear or lies tell me. Set me free from everything that holds me back and fill me with Your truth.
