John 3:34-35

What Does John 3:34-35 Mean?

John is telling us something big: Jesus speaks God’s words perfectly because God gives Him the Holy Spirit without any limit – not just a little, but totally and completely. And because the Father loves the Son completely, He has handed all things – all authority, all power, all creation – into Jesus’s hands. When we follow Jesus, we are following the One who has everything and holds everything together.

Is there something in your life that feels out of control – a worry, a problem, or a situation you cannot fix? Write it on a piece of paper and then physically place it in your open hands. Say a prayer giving it to Jesus, who holds “all things” in His hands. Then leave it there with Him.

Did You Know?

The phrase “without measure” is special – in Bible times, some rabbis taught that prophets received the Holy Spirit in limited amounts for specific tasks. John is making it clear that Jesus is different from all the prophets: He has the fullness of the Spirit with no limits at all. Jesus is not just a great teacher – He is God Himself.
