John 17:20-23
Jesus Prayed for YOU to Be United!
Welcome, Faith Force Unity Pray-ers! Today, we’re learning about Jesus’ amazing prayer for all believers to be completely one, as shared in John 17:20-23.
Verse Of The Day:
"I pray for all who will believe in me, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them glory so they may be one as we are one - I in them and you in me - so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them just as you have loved me." (John 17:20-23, kid-friendly version)
Have you ever wondered what Jesus prayed for before He died? This prayer shows us something amazing – Jesus prayed for YOU!
Jesus says “I pray for all who will believe in me” – that includes every Christian who has ever lived or will ever live! Jesus prayed for people in the future (us!) before He went to the cross. What did He pray for? “That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.”
Jesus wants us to be united the same way He and the Father are united! God the Father and Jesus are COMPLETELY one – never fighting, always in perfect harmony, totally connected. Jesus prays that believers would have that SAME kind of unity with each other!
Why does this matter so much? “So that the world may believe that you have sent me” and “Then the world will know that you sent me.” When non-Christians see believers loving each other, united, and living in complete harmony, they think “Wow! This must be real! God must have sent Jesus!” Our unity is like a giant billboard telling the world that Jesus is real!
Jesus prayed for “complete unity” among all believers. When we fight, gossip, and divide, we’re basically saying no to Jesus’ prayer! But when we love each other and stay united, we’re answering Jesus’ prayer and showing the world that Jesus is from God!
Jesus Prayed for Me Unity Chain:
Make a paper chain with different colored strips! On each strip, write one way believers can show unity – “Love Each Other,” “Forgive Quickly,” “No Gossip,” “Help Each Other,” “Worship Together,” “Pray Together.” Connect them into one unbreakable chain to represent “complete unity.” Remember – Jesus prayed for YOU to be united with all other believers! Are you answering His prayer?
Time For A Prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank You for praying for us before You went to the cross! Help us be completely united like You and the Father are one. When we're tempted to fight, gossip, or divide from other believers, remind us that You prayed for our unity. Help the world see our love and unity and believe that You are from God! Amen.
Keep answering Jesus’ prayer for unity, Faith Force Unity Pray-ers! Until our next Divine Dispatch, remember that Jesus prayed for complete unity so the world would believe!
