Mission Briefing
Love Like Jesus Loves
Jesus gave His followers many teachings, but this one was His special commandment – the one He really wanted them to remember. And the standard He set for love? His own love for us. That’s the highest bar ever set! This mission explores John 15:12.
What Does John 15:12 Mean?
Jesus doesn’t just say “be nice to people” – He says love others the way He loves us. How does Jesus love? Selflessly, sacrificially, patiently, and unconditionally. He loves people who are hard to love. He loves people when they mess up. He loves even when it costs Him something. That’s the kind of love Jesus is calling us to show to everyone around us – and it’s genuinely heroic!
Hero Challenge
Think of someone who is hard for you to be kind to – maybe someone who left you out, said something mean, or just annoys you. This week, do one intentional act of love for that person. It doesn’t have to be big; it just has to be real. Ask Jesus to help you love them the way He does!
Did You Know?
Jesus spoke these words in the Upper Room on the night before He was crucified – one of the last and most important conversations He ever had with His disciples. He wanted love to be His legacy and the defining mark of His followers. Jesus said in John 13:35 that people would recognize His followers by the way they love one another.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Jesus says to love others. Can you think of one friend you could show extra kindness to today? What would you do?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Jesus says to love others “as I have loved you.” What are some ways Jesus has shown love to you? How can you show that same kind of love to someone else?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Jesus’s love includes loving people who are difficult or even unkind. What makes that kind of love so hard – and why does Jesus call us to it anyway? How can you practice that kind of love this week in a real situation?

♥ Mission Prayer
Jesus, thank You for loving me so completely. Help me to love others the same way — generously, patiently, and without giving up. Show me who needs Your love through me today. Amen.
