The Best Thing to Know
What’s the greatest thing a person could know or have? Some people say money, fame, or power. But God says there’s something infinitely better – knowing Him! And He tells us exactly what He’s like so we can truly know Him. This mission explores Jeremiah 9:24.
What Does Jeremiah 9:24 Mean?
God is speaking through Jeremiah and making a stunning declaration: the only boast worth making is knowing God personally. But He’s not just a mystery – He tells us what He’s like. He practices steadfast love (loyal, never-giving-up love), justice (making things right and fair), and righteousness (living and acting perfectly). And here’s the breathtaking part: these are the things He delights in! God is joyful about love, fairness, and goodness. Knowing that changes everything.
Hero Challenge
This verse tells you three things God delights in: steadfast love, justice, and righteousness. Choose one of the three and find one concrete way to practice it this week. At the end of the week, ask yourself: did doing that help me understand God a little better?
Did You Know?
The apostle Paul quotes this exact verse in 1 Corinthians 1:31 and 2 Corinthians 10:17 – he loved it so much he referenced it twice! It was clearly one of the most important ideas in his faith. If one of the greatest Bible teachers in history kept coming back to this verse, it’s worth memorizing yourself!

God delights in love, fairness, and doing what’s right. Which one of those three things can you do today?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
God says knowing Him is the best thing to boast about. What does it mean to really “know” someone? How is knowing God the same or different from knowing your best friend?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Jeremiah 9:24 says God delights in steadfast love, justice, and righteousness. If God delights in them, that means He takes joy in them – they make Him happy. How does knowing that God finds joy in these things change how you think about pursuing them in your own life?

Lord, I want to truly know You — not just know about You. Help me understand Your steadfast love, Your justice, and Your righteousness. And as I get to know You better, help me become more like You. You are the greatest treasure there is. Amen.
