Mission Briefing
The Mountain Where No One Gets Hurt
A wolf snacking next to a lamb. A lion eating hay. A world where nothing hurts anything else. It sounds impossible – but God says this is exactly what His holy mountain will look like. What a place to live forever! This mission explores Isaiah 65:25.
What Does Isaiah 65:25 Mean?
Isaiah 65 describes the new creation God is building – a new heavens and a new earth (mentioned in verse 17). In this new world, even the most dangerous predators will be transformed. A wolf and a lamb eating side by side. A lion munching on straw. The serpent – often a symbol of evil – reduced to eating dust. And God’s holy mountain is a place where nothing is hurt or destroyed – ever. It is the complete undoing of all the harm sin caused in the world.
Hero Challenge
God’s holy mountain is a place of zero harm. Think about your world this week – school, home, your friend group. Is there somewhere you can reduce hurt or conflict? Be a peacemaker in one situation this week. You can be a small sign of God’s coming kingdom right now!
Did You Know?
Isaiah 65:25 echoes Isaiah 11:6-9 almost word for word. God repeats this vision of peaceful animals across centuries of prophecy – it must be very important to Him! The repetition shows that this isn’t a poetic accident; it is a firm and deliberate promise. Peter also references a new heavens and new earth in 2 Peter 3:13, showing how the Old and New Testaments connect on this theme.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Which animals in this verse surprised you the most? Why?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
God says “they shall not hurt or destroy” – why do you think that is so important to Him? Can you think of ways people hurt and destroy things today?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
This verse is part of God’s promise of a new creation. How does knowing that God will completely restore all of creation change the way you feel about the brokenness you see in the world today?
