Let Go and Look Forward!
Have you ever made a mistake that kept replaying in your head like a video on loop? Or maybe something painful happened and you just couldn’t stop thinking about it? God has an incredible message for you – it’s time to look forward, because something amazing is coming! This mission explores Isaiah 43:18.
What Does Isaiah 43:18 Mean?
God told His people not to keep their eyes stuck on the past. This doesn’t mean we should forget every lesson we’ve learned – but it does mean we shouldn’t live in regret, shame, or sadness over things that are already done. The very next verse (Isaiah 43:19) says, “Behold, I am doing a new thing!” God is always moving forward, and He wants us to move forward with Him.
Hero Challenge
On a piece of paper, write down one mistake you’ve been feeling bad about or one painful memory you keep thinking about. Then pray over it and tear up the paper as a symbol of letting it go and trusting God to do something new in your life. Keep your eyes forward this week!
Did You Know?
When God said “remember not the former things,” He was actually talking about something that sounded great – the miracles He did when He rescued Israel from Egypt! Even amazing past experiences shouldn’t keep us looking backward. God was saying, “What I’m about to do is so incredible, it will make the old miracles look small!” That’s how big His plans for the future are.

If you made a mistake and said sorry, do you think God is still mad? What does He want you to do next?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Why is it hard to stop thinking about past mistakes or painful things? How does knowing God is doing something new help you choose to let go?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
God told His people not to get stuck on past miracles because something even greater was coming. How can focusing too much on the past – even good memories – actually hold you back from what God wants to do in your life now?

Lord, help me to let go of the things in my past that keep pulling my heart backward. I trust that You are doing something new and wonderful in my life. Help me to keep my eyes on You and look forward with hope. Amen.
