Mission Briefing
God Is My Strength and My Song!
Have you ever had a song stuck in your head that just made everything feel better? Isaiah says God is like the greatest song ever – one that fills your heart with courage and joy. And when God is your strength AND your song, there is nothing to be afraid of! This mission explores Isaiah 12:2.
What Does Isaiah 12:2 Mean?
Isaiah is making a joyful declaration – he’s saying out loud that God is the one who saves him, gives him strength, and makes his heart sing with joy. Notice he says “I will trust” – it’s a choice! We choose to trust even when fear is trying to creep in. When you know God is your salvation and your strength, fear loses its power. And when you know Him, your heart naturally wants to sing!
Hero Challenge
Pick a worship song or a Bible verse set to music this week that reminds you of who God is. When you feel afraid or down, play it and sing along – even quietly to yourself. Notice how focusing on God’s greatness through music shifts your heart from fear to trust.
Did You Know?
Isaiah chapter 12 is actually a song – one of the few full songs written in the prophetic books of the Old Testament. It was written as a joyful praise song for God’s people to sing after God rescued them. Isaiah was saying, “When God saves you, you’ll want to sing about it!” Music has always been one of God’s favorite gifts to help us worship Him.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
What is your favorite song? Did you know that God can be like a song in your heart that makes you feel brave and happy?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Isaiah says he will trust and NOT be afraid. How do you think trusting God helps push away fear? Have you ever experienced that?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Isaiah calls God both his “strength” and his “song.” Strength and song seem like very different things – strength is power, and song is joy. What does it tell us about God that He can be both of those things at once?
♥ Mission Prayer
Lord, I choose to trust You today and not be afraid. You are my strength when I feel weak and my song when my heart feels heavy. Fill me with joy as I remember how great You are. Amen.
