Mission Briefing

God Does Not Keep Score

Have you ever done something wrong and kept worrying that someone was still mad at you, even after they said they forgave you? God wants you to know something amazing: when He forgives you, He truly forgets! This mission explores Hebrews 8:12.

What Does Hebrews 8:12 Mean?

This verse is God making a promise – called a covenant – to His people. When He says “I will remember their sins no more,” He is not saying He has a bad memory. He is saying that He chooses, on purpose, never to bring them up again. His forgiveness is so complete that your past mistakes have no power over your future with Him.

Hero Challenge

This week, whenever a bad memory or guilty feeling comes back to bother you, say this out loud: “God said He will remember my sins no more – so I do not have to carry this anymore!” Practice letting go of guilt by giving it back to God in prayer.

Did You Know?

Hebrews 8:12 is actually a quote from the Old Testament book of Jeremiah (Jeremiah 31:34), where God promised a new covenant with His people. The writer of Hebrews is showing that Jesus fulfilled that promise. This forgiveness is not a new idea – God planned it for His people from the very beginning!

Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question

When God says He will not remember your sins, how does that make you feel? What is one thing you want to say thank you to God for today?

Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question

What is the difference between God forgetting our sins and a person saying “I forgive you” but still bringing it up later? Why is God’s way better?

Ages 10-13: Champion Question

If God chooses not to remember our sins, why do you think so many people still walk around carrying guilt? What does it take to truly receive and live in God’s forgiveness?

♥ Mission Prayer

Lord, thank You that You are not keeping a record of all the things I have done wrong. You promise to be merciful and to forget my sins completely. Help me to believe that promise today and to stop carrying guilt that You have already taken away. Amen.
