Mission Briefing
Two Anchors That Will Never Break
When life feels shaky or scary, where do you run? Heroes in the Bible ran to God – because He is the safest refuge there is. And today’s verse explains exactly why God can always be trusted! This mission explores Hebrews 6:18.
What Does Hebrews 6:18 Mean?
The “two unchangeable things” this verse talks about are God’s promise and God’s oath – basically, God said something was true AND He backed it up by swearing on Himself, because there is nothing greater to swear by. Since God cannot lie, that double guarantee is absolutely rock solid. When we run to God for safety, we can hold on tightly to hope – because the One who gives us hope never breaks His word.
Hero Challenge
Draw or write about a “refuge” – a safe place you imagine. Then write the words “God is my refuge” on it. Put it somewhere you’ll see it when you feel worried or scared this week as a reminder that God’s promises are unbreakable.
Did You Know?
In the Old Testament, certain cities were called “cities of refuge” – if someone accidentally hurt another person, they could run to that city and be safe. The writer of Hebrews uses that same picture to describe running to God. No matter what you’ve done or what’s happening around you, God is a place of true safety.
