Stop Trying to Earn It
Have you ever felt like you have to be extra good for God to love you? Hebrews has a message that might be the most freeing thing you’ll hear all year – and it’s all about rest! This mission explores Hebrews 4:10.
What Does Hebrews 4:10 Mean?
This verse is talking about a special kind of rest – not just sleep, but the peace that comes from trusting that Jesus has already done the work to make us right with God. We don’t have to earn God’s love by being perfect or doing enough good things. Just like God rested after creation because the work was complete, we can rest because Jesus completed the work of saving us. We can stop striving and just trust Him!

This week, when you catch yourself thinking “I need to be better for God to love me,” stop and say out loud: “Jesus already did it. I am loved.” Practice resting in what Jesus has already done for you instead of trying to earn what’s already yours.

The book of Hebrews was written to Jewish believers who knew the Old Testament inside and out. The writer wanted them to understand that Jesus was the fulfillment of everything they had been doing – all the sacrifices, all the rules – so they could finally rest. It was a revolutionary, life-changing idea!

Thank You, Jesus, for doing the work that I could never do on my own. Help me to rest in Your love instead of trying to earn it. Remind me every day that I am already loved and accepted because of You.
