Mission Briefing

Ephesians 6:13 gives us a mission briefing that sounds like it’s straight out of an adventure story – put on the full armor of God so that when the evil day comes, you can stand your ground. Notice it doesn’t say “so you can run away” or “so you can hide.” It says STAND. Soldiers don’t wear armor to escape – they wear it so they can hold their position even when things get tough. Think about the hardest day you’ve had recently. Maybe someone was mean to you. Maybe something really scary happened. Maybe you were tempted to do something you knew was wrong. Those are the moments this verse is talking about. God doesn’t promise those days won’t happen – but He does promise He’ll suit you up so you can get through them. The armor isn’t decoration. It’s real, and it’s for real battles.

What Does Ephesians 6:13 Mean?

Courage isn’t the same as not feeling afraid. Courage is choosing to stand even when you ARE afraid. God gives you that courage when you put on His armor – which means praying, reading His Word, and staying close to Him. The next time a hard day shows up, you don’t have to run. You’re already equipped.

Draw an outline of a person on a piece of paper – that’s you. Now draw armor pieces on them: a helmet, a breastplate, a shield, boots. Inside each piece, write one thing that helps you stand firm (like “prayer,” “the Bible,” “telling the truth,” “God is with me”). Keep your armored hero somewhere visible as a reminder that God has already given you everything you need to stand.
