Mission Briefing
Have you ever played a game where you had to defend something – a base, a flag, a goal? You know that feeling of standing firm, not letting anything get past you? Ephesians 6:11 is about exactly that kind of standing firm – except in real life. God tells us to put on the full armour He provides, because there are real things in this world that try to knock us off our feet: lies that tell us we are not good enough, temptations that pull us toward things we know are wrong, fear that makes us want to run. The armour is how we stay standing.
The amazing thing about God’s armour is that it is not something you have to make yourself. He gives it to you. Truth, faith, salvation, peace – these are not things you earn, they are things you put on, like getting dressed in the morning. Every day is a chance to suit up. And a hero who is properly equipped is a hero who does not need to be afraid of what the day brings.
What Does Ephesians 6:11 Mean?
The enemy of your soul does not fight fair – but God’s armour covers every angle. Standing firm does not mean you never feel scared or tempted. It means that when those things come, you do not run and you do not give up. You stand. That is what courage looks like in real life – not the absence of a fight, but the decision to stay in it.
Mission Activity
Draw the outline of a person (it can be you!) and label each part of the body with a piece of God’s armour from Ephesians 6: helmet of salvation, breastplate of righteousness, belt of truth, shoes of peace, shield of faith, sword of the Spirit. Colour each piece and talk about what each one protects you from. (Note: the verse above is paraphrased to help younger readers connect with its meaning. The original is Ephesians 6:11 NIV.)
♥ Mission Prayer
Dear God, thank You for giving me armour so I do not have to face hard things on my own. Help me to put it on every single day — truth, faith, peace, and Your Word. Help me to stand firm even when things feel hard. Amen.
