Ephesians 5:15-17

19 October 2025 · Hero Mission
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Ephesians 5:15-17

Mission Briefing

Make Every Moment Count

Time is one of the most mysterious things in the world – once it is gone, you cannot get it back. That is why Paul gives us a powerful challenge: stop sleepwalking through life and start walking wisely. Every single day matters! This mission explores Ephesians 5:15-17.

What Does Ephesians 5:15-17 Mean?

Paul is telling the believers in Ephesus to pay attention to how they are living – are they making wise choices or just going along with the crowd? “Making the best use of the time” means grabbing every opportunity to do good, to grow in faith, and to love others well. It does not mean every moment has to be super productive – it means living with purpose and intention, guided by what God says is important.

Hero Challenge

At the end of each day this week, do a quick review: “Did I use my time wisely today?” You do not need to be perfect – just thoughtful. Pick one thing you will do differently tomorrow to make better use of your time for God and for others. Small changes add up to big differences over time.

Did You Know?

The phrase “making the best use of the time” in the original Greek is literally “buying up the time” – like a savvy merchant who snatches up a great deal before it disappears. Paul used marketplace language his readers would understand. He wanted them to treat every opportunity to do good like a deal too good to pass up!

Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question

Paul says to use our time wisely. What is one good thing you love to do that is also kind or helpful to others?

Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question

What does it mean to “walk wisely”? Can you think of two choices – a wise one and an unwise one – you might face this week?

Ages 10-13: Champion Question

Paul says to understand “what the will of the Lord is.” How do you figure out what God’s will is for your everyday decisions – not just the big ones? What tools do you have to help you?

♥ Mission Prayer

God, help me make the most of every day You give me. Teach me to use my time for things that really matter — loving You, loving others, and growing in wisdom. Show me Your will so I can walk wisely. Amen.
