Mission Briefing

The Team That Sticks Together

Ever been on a team where everyone argued and nothing got done? Now imagine a team where everyone is humble, gentle, patient, and full of love – that’s the kind of team God is building, and He wants YOU on it! This mission explores Ephesians 4:2-3.

What Does Ephesians 4:2-3 Mean?

Paul describes four ingredients for amazing community: humility (not thinking you’re better than others), gentleness (handling people carefully), patience (giving others time and grace), and bearing with one another in love (putting up with each other’s quirks because you love them!). And the goal? Keeping the unity that God’s Spirit already created – the peace that holds us all together like glue.

Hero Challenge

Pick one of the four qualities from this verse – humility, gentleness, patience, or love – and practice it specifically this week at home. Tell someone in your family which one you’re working on and ask them to help you notice when you do well or when you slip. Growing together is what this verse is all about!

Did You Know?

Paul wrote this letter while he was in prison – he could have been bitter and focused on himself, but instead he wrote about unity and love for others! He called himself “the prisoner of the Lord” and still poured out encouragement. His circumstances didn’t stop his mission. And neither should ours.

Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question

Being gentle and patient helps us get along with others. Can you show me what “gentle” looks like with your hands right now?

Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question

What does it mean to “bear with one another in love”? Can you think of a time when someone in your family was patient with you even when it was hard?

Ages 10-13: Champion Question

Paul says to be “eager” to maintain unity – that means working hard at it before it breaks, not just fixing it after. What habits could you build now to keep unity strong in your family, team, or friend group?

♥ Mission Prayer

God, help me to be humble, gentle, and patient with the people around me. I want to be someone who keeps the peace and holds my team together in love. Amen.
