Mission Briefing

The Power of a Fresh Start

Imagine if every mistake you ever made could be completely erased – gone, wiped out, as if it never happened! That’s exactly what God offers us through repentance. It’s one of the greatest gifts in the entire universe! This mission explores Acts 3:19.

What Does Acts 3:19 Mean?

Peter spoke these words to a crowd of people right after a miraculous healing. “Repent” means to truly change your mind and direction – to turn away from wrong and turn toward God. When we do that sincerely, God blots out our sins. “Blotted out” is like erasing ink from a page until there’s nothing left. God doesn’t just forgive – He completely removes the record of our wrongs!

Hero Challenge

Write down one thing you want to change about how you’ve been acting or thinking lately. Then pray and ask God to forgive you and help you turn in a new direction. As a symbol of your fresh start, tear up or erase what you wrote – just like God blots out your sins!

Did You Know?

Peter’s speech in Acts 3 came just days after Jesus ascended to heaven and the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost. Thousands of people responded to Peter’s messages during those early days! Peter himself knew the power of a fresh start – he had denied knowing Jesus three times and was fully restored by Jesus’s forgiveness.

Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question

When you say sorry to God and really mean it, what does God do with your mistakes? Does He remember them or erase them?

Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question

“Repent” means to turn around and go a different direction. Can you think of a habit or attitude you’d like to turn away from? What would turning toward God look like instead?

Ages 10-13: Champion Question

True repentance means more than just feeling sorry – it means actually changing direction. What’s the difference between feeling guilty and genuinely repenting? How does God’s promise to blot out sins give you courage to be honest with Him?

♥ Mission Prayer

God, thank You for the gift of a fresh start. I want to turn away from what's wrong and walk toward You. Please blot out my mistakes and help me go in a new direction. Amen.
