Mission Briefing
Your Faith Is Being Forged Into Something Beautiful!
Did you know that gold has to go through blazing fire to become pure and shining? Your faith is the same way – when it goes through hard times, it comes out stronger, shinier, and more precious than before! This mission explores 1 Peter 1:6-7.
What Does 1 Peter 1:6-7 Mean?
Peter wrote this to people who were going through very tough times because of their faith. He wanted them to understand that the hard times weren’t meaningless – they were actually making their faith more real and more valuable. Gold is tested in fire to prove it’s genuine. Our faith is tested in tough times for the same reason. And when our faith comes through those tests, it brings glory to God and honor to us.
Hero Challenge
Think of a hard time you went through – maybe something that made you scared, sad, or unsure. Can you see how it made your faith stronger? Write or draw about that experience and label it “Faith Forged in Fire.” Hang it somewhere to remind yourself that hard things can make you stronger.
Did You Know?
In ancient times, metalworkers would heat gold in a furnace until all the impurities floated to the top and could be removed. The result was pure, gleaming gold. Peter used this image because his readers would have understood it well – and he wanted them to see their own suffering through that same hopeful lens.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Does God still love you when things are hard? What is something hard you have been through that turned out okay?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Why do you think Peter says we can still have joy even when we are going through difficult things?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Peter says trials test the “genuineness” of our faith – meaning they show if our faith is real. How do you respond to hard times, and what does that reveal about the strength of your faith?
♥ Mission Prayer
Lord, help me remember that hard times are making my faith stronger, like gold in a fire. I want my faith to be genuine and real. Thank You for being with me through every trial. Amen.
