Mission Briefing
Stand Up for Those Who Can’t Stand Alone
Have you ever seen someone get left out or treated unfairly and wished someone would help them? God has a mission for you – He calls His people to be champions for those who need it most! This mission explores Psalm 82:3-4.
What Does Psalm 82:3-4 Mean?
In this psalm, God is speaking to leaders and reminding them that their most important job is to protect people who are weak, poor, or without a family to stand up for them. The word “fatherless” means kids who don’t have a parent to look after them. God cares deeply about fairness and wants His people to make sure everyone is treated right, not just the powerful or popular.
Hero Challenge
This week, look for someone at school or in your neighborhood who seems left out, sad, or being treated unfairly. Do one brave thing to help them – sit with them at lunch, speak up if someone is being unkind to them, or simply offer a smile and kind words. Small acts of courage can change someone’s whole day!
Did You Know?
Psalm 82 is one of the most unique psalms in the whole Bible because it pictures God standing in a heavenly court, like a judge, calling out those who ignore justice. The ancient Israelites understood that caring for orphans and the poor wasn’t just a nice idea – it was a command from God Himself. Throughout the Bible, God repeats this call to protect the vulnerable more than almost any other instruction.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Can you think of someone who might need a friend today? What is one kind thing you could do for them?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Why do you think God cares so much about people who are weak or don’t have a family? How can you show that same care at school?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
God calls His people to “rescue” and “deliver” those who are treated unfairly. What does it look like to be a rescuer in your everyday world – at school, online, or in your community?
♥ Mission Prayer
God, thank You for being the greatest defender of people who are treated unfairly. Help me to be brave and speak up for those who need someone in their corner. Give me eyes to see the people around me who need Your love through me. Amen.
