Mission Briefing
One Day That Changes Everything
What if there was one day every week that was set apart – a day so special that God put it right in His top ten list of rules? That’s exactly what the Sabbath is! This mission explores Exodus 20:8.
What Does Exodus 20:8 Mean?
God commanded His people to set aside one day a week to rest and remember that He is God. The word “holy” means set apart – different from all the other days. It wasn’t just about stopping work; it was about focusing on God, being grateful, and letting your body and spirit recharge. When we honor a day of rest, we show God that we trust Him to take care of us even when we’re not working.
Hero Challenge
Talk with your family about creating a “rest day” tradition – something special you do together that honors God and slows life down. It could be a family walk, a Bible story time, or cooking together. Try it this week and see how it feels!
Did You Know?
God actually rested on the seventh day after creating the whole universe – not because He was tired, but to set an example for us! The word “Sabbath” comes from the Hebrew word meaning “to rest” or “to stop.” God designed rest into the very rhythm of creation.

♥ Mission Prayer
Lord, thank You for the gift of rest and for designing a rhythm of life that includes stopping. Help my family to honor a day set apart for You. Remind me that resting in You is never wasted time.
