Mission Briefing
Jesus tells a story in Matthew 7:24 about two builders. One builds on rock. One builds on sand. You probably know how it ends – the storm comes, and only the rock-built house survives. But here’s the part that’s easy to miss: both builders heard the same words of Jesus. The difference wasn’t what they knew. It was what they did. The wise one heard AND acted. The foolish one heard and stopped there.
Knowing about God’s word is not the same as living it. You can have all the right answers in Sunday school, remember every verse, know every Bible story – and still build your life on sand if you never put it into practice. But when you actually do what Jesus says – when you forgive for real, when you’re kind on purpose, when you choose honesty even when it’s costly – that’s when your life gets built on something that will actually hold in a storm.
What This Means For You
You already know more than you’re living – and that’s just true for almost everyone. The question isn’t “do you know enough?” The question is “are you doing what you know?” Even one small step – one moment where you put a verse into action instead of just thinking about it – is a brick on the rock. Start small. Start today. Build the life that stands.
Mission Activity
Think of one thing you know you should do – from the Bible, from something you’ve heard – that you haven’t quite put into practice yet. Write it down as a simple action step: “I will _____ this week.” Make it specific. Tape it somewhere visible and check in at the end of the week.
♥ Mission Prayer
Dear God, I want to be someone who doesn't just hear Your words but actually does them. Help me not to nod along and then forget. Give me the courage to put what I know into practice — even when it's uncomfortable, even when no one is watching. Build my life on the solid rock of Your word. Amen.
