Mission Briefing
Acts 4:12 makes a bold, clear claim – the kind that makes people either really excited or a little uncomfortable. Peter, who had just healed a man who couldn’t walk, stands up in front of a crowd and says: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” One name. Not a list. Not multiple options. Jesus – and only Jesus – is the way to be saved. That’s not something Peter made up. It’s what Jesus Himself said (John 14:6). It’s the central claim of the whole faith.
We live in a world that says all paths lead to the same place. But that can’t be true if Jesus came specifically to die for our sins and rise again – that’s a very particular thing, not a general idea. Think of it this way: if you were lost in the wilderness and someone came and showed you the EXACT path out, you wouldn’t keep wandering other paths just to be polite. You’d take the one that actually leads home. Jesus is that path. Not because Christians decided so – because Jesus proved it by rising from the dead. That’s the kind of faith this verse calls us to hold with confidence.
What This Means For You
Believing in Jesus isn’t just one option among many feel-good beliefs. It’s a decision about truth – about Who He really is and what He really did. And that belief changes everything: how you see yourself, how you treat others, where your hope is anchored. If you’ve never actually decided what you believe about Jesus, this is the mission to think about that. And if you already believe? Then this verse is fuel for sharing that hope with someone who needs it.
Mission Activity
Write the name JESUS in big letters on a piece of paper. Underneath, write what YOU believe He has done for you – in your own words, as simply as possible. Then think of one person in your life who might not know about Jesus yet. Write their name. Pray for them every day this week. You don’t have to give a speech – just pray and look for one small moment to show them what Jesus looks like through your life. (Note: the verse above is paraphrased to help younger readers connect with its meaning. The original is Acts 4:12 NIV.)
♥ Mission Prayer
Dear God, thank You that You gave us ONE name — Jesus — to hold onto. Help me know Him more every day and help me share that hope with people around me who need it. Amen.
