Mission Briefing
A Hero Who Finished Strong!
Imagine looking back at your whole life and being able to say three incredible things: I fought hard. I finished the race. I kept the faith. That’s exactly what Paul said near the end of his life – and it’s one of the most powerful statements in the entire Bible! This mission explores 2 Timothy 4:7.
What Does 2 Timothy 4:7 Mean?
Paul wrote this from prison, near the end of his life, knowing he would likely face death soon. Yet instead of being sad, he was TRIUMPHANT. “Fought the good fight” means he didn’t quit when it got hard. “Finished the race” means he completed his God-given mission. “Kept the faith” means he never abandoned his trust in Jesus through decades of trials and adventures. This is the goal for every faith hero – to finish well!
Hero Challenge
Think about the kind of life you want to be able to look back on someday. What would it look like to have “fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith” in YOUR story? Write or draw what that looks like, and share it with someone you trust.
Did You Know?
This verse is from Paul’s very last letter before he was executed in Rome. He wrote it to his dear friend Timothy to pass the torch of faith to the next generation. In a way, Paul is passing that torch to YOU too – every person who reads these words is invited to run their own faith race with everything they have!
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Paul said he finished his race for God! What is one thing you can finish really well today – like a chore or being kind all day?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Why do you think it’s important not just to START following God but to KEEP going? What helps you stay on track?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Paul could say at the end of his life that he kept the faith through everything. What choices do you need to make NOW – as a young person – to build that kind of lifelong faithfulness?
♥ Mission Prayer
Lord, I want to finish strong just like Paul! Help me to fight the good fight, run my race with all I have, and keep my faith in You for my whole life. Let me finish well and hear You say, "Well done!" Amen.
