Mission Briefing
God Sees What You’re Going Through
Have you ever been treated badly and wondered if it would ever be made right? Paul has an encouraging message for people going through tough times – God is keeping track, and relief is on the way! This mission explores 2 Thessalonians 1:6-7.
What Does 2 Thessalonians 1:6-7 Mean?
Paul is writing to a group of believers in Thessalonica who were being seriously mistreated because of their faith. He reminds them that God is perfectly just – He sees the suffering of those who are being wronged, and He will one day make things right. Those who cause harm will face justice, and those who are hurting will receive relief. When Jesus returns “with his mighty angels,” every wrong will be addressed. In the meantime, God’s people can hold on with confidence, knowing He has not forgotten them.
Hero Challenge
If you or someone you know is going through a hard time because of doing what’s right, don’t give up! This week, encourage someone who is struggling – share a verse, pray with them, or simply remind them that God sees them and cares about what they’re going through. Your words of hope could make a huge difference.
Did You Know?
Thessalonica was a major city in ancient Macedonia (modern-day Greece) and a very important trade hub. The believers there faced opposition almost from the very beginning – just weeks after Paul founded their church, he was forced to leave because of riots stirred up against him. Yet despite the pressure, the Thessalonians kept their faith strong. Paul calls them an example to other churches throughout the region, and his letters to them overflow with pride and love for their perseverance.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Paul says God will give “relief” to people who are hurting! Can you think of a time God helped you feel better when something hard happened?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
The believers in Thessalonica kept their faith even when people were mean to them. What can you do to stay strong in your faith when things get hard?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Paul says God considers it just to repay those who cause suffering and to bring relief to those who suffer. How does trusting in God’s justice affect how you respond when you’re treated unfairly – does it free you from needing to take revenge? Why or why not?

♥ Mission Prayer
God, I trust that You are perfectly just and that You see everything that happens to me. When things feel unfair, help me to hold on and trust in You rather than taking matters into my own hands. Thank You for the promise of relief and restoration. Amen.
