Mission Briefing
God’s Patience Is a Gift for Everyone!
Have you ever gotten frustrated waiting for something? God is a really good waiter – and the reason He waits is because He loves people SO much. That’s actually really good news for all of us! This mission explores 2 Peter 3:9.
What Does 2 Peter 3:9 Mean?
Some people wonder why Jesus hasn’t come back yet. Peter answered that question: God is being patient because He wants as many people as possible to turn to Him and be saved. God’s waiting isn’t slowness – it’s love in action! He is giving everyone more time to hear about Him, believe, and be part of His family. That patience is one of the greatest gifts God gives the world.
Hero Challenge
Think of someone in your life who doesn’t know much about God yet. Pray for them every day this week – that God, in His patience and love, would help them find Him. You might even look for a chance to share something kind or hopeful with them!
Did You Know?
The Apostle Peter wrote this letter to encourage believers who were starting to doubt because Jesus hadn’t returned yet. Peter reminded them that God’s sense of time is completely different from ours – a thousand years is like a day to Him! His timing is always perfectly planned and full of purpose.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Why is it good that God is patient and gives everyone a chance to know Him? Can you think of someone you love who needs to know how good God is?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
If God is being patient so more people can find Him, how does that make you feel about sharing kindness and faith with others?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
How does understanding God’s patience change the way you think about people who haven’t yet come to faith? What is your role in God’s patient plan?
