Mission Briefing
God Gives So You Can Give!
Have you ever felt like you didn’t have enough to share? What if God promised to give you exactly what you need so you could overflow with good things for others? That’s the incredible promise packed into these two verses! God doesn’t just give us enough – He gives us enough to be generous too. This mission explores 2 Corinthians 9:8-9.
What Does 2 Corinthians 9:8-9 Mean?
Paul wrote this letter to the church in Corinth to encourage them to give generously. He reminded them that God is able to give them everything they need – not just barely enough, but more than enough – so they can do good things for others. The word “abound” means to overflow or have plenty. God’s plan is that His grace flows into us and then overflows out to the people around us. We give because God first gave to us!
Hero Challenge
Make a “grace chain” this week! Write down three ways God has given you something good – a meal, a home, a friend, a talent. Next to each one, write one way you can pass that blessing on to someone else. Then do it!
Did You Know?
When Paul wrote 2 Corinthians, he was collecting a special offering from churches all across the Roman world to help believers in Jerusalem who were going through a very hard time. This showed that early faith communities took care of each other across great distances – even people they had never met! That’s what it looks like when God’s grace abounds through people.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
The verse says God gives us enough so we can share with others. Can you think of something God has given you that you could share?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
What does it mean that God’s grace “abounds” to us? Have you ever had more than enough of something and been able to give some away?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Paul says God gives us sufficiency “at all times” so we can abound in good works. How does this promise change the way you think about your own resources – money, time, or talents – and whether you have “enough” to be generous?
♥ Mission Prayer
Father, thank You for giving me more than enough so I can bless others. Fill me with Your grace so it overflows out of my life into the lives of people around me. Amen.
