Mission Briefing
The Unseen Things That Last Forever
Have you ever had a hard day at school and then felt totally fine a week later? Hard times don’t last forever – but what God is building in you DOES. Paul has a secret for getting through tough times, and it’s all about where you look. This mission explores 2 Corinthians 4:17-18.
What Does 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 Mean?
Paul calls our troubles “light and momentary” – even when they feel really heavy! He says these hard moments are actually working something amazing in us: an eternal weight of glory. Think of it like this: the hard training an athlete does is tiny compared to the championship they win. The things we can see – like problems and pain – are temporary. But the things we can’t see yet – like Heaven and God’s glory – are eternal and way bigger.
Hero Challenge
Write down one hard thing you are going through right now. Next to it, write one unseen, eternal truth from the Bible that is bigger than that hard thing. Practice looking at the eternal truth this week whenever the hard thing feels overwhelming.
Did You Know?
Paul wrote this while going through incredible hardships – shipwrecks, beatings, prison, and more! Yet he called all of it “light and momentary.” That shows us that Paul’s eyes were so fixed on eternal things that even painful experiences looked small in comparison. He wasn’t ignoring pain – he was seeing a bigger picture.
