Mission Briefing
Strong When You Feel Weak
What if the times you feel the most weak are actually the times God can do the most through you? That sounds backwards, right? But this is one of God’s most surprising and amazing secrets – and the apostle Paul discovered it the hard way. This mission explores 2 Corinthians 12:9-10.
What Does 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 Mean?
Paul had a problem he begged God to take away three times. God didn’t remove it – instead He said, “My grace is enough for you.” Grace means God’s love and help that we don’t deserve. God was telling Paul: when you’re weak, you stop relying on yourself and start relying totally on Me. And that’s when My power really shines through you. Your weakness is not a dead end – it’s a doorway for God’s power!
Hero Challenge
Write down one thing you’re not good at or one area where you feel weak. Now write a prayer asking God to show His power through that weakness this week. Pay attention to how God works through you in that exact area – you might be surprised!
Did You Know?
Paul called his problem a “thorn in the flesh” – scholars have debated for centuries what it actually was! Some think it was a painful eye condition, others think it was a person who kept making his life hard. Whatever it was, God used it to teach Paul one of the most important lessons in the Bible.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Is there something you’re not very good at yet? Did you know God can still use you even when you’re still learning?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Why do you think it might be easier for God to work through us when we feel weak than when we feel super confident?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Paul said he was “content” with weakness and hard times. What do you think that looked like in his daily life, and how could you practice that kind of attitude today?
♥ Mission Prayer
God, thank You that You can use even my weaknesses for something good. Help me to stop hiding the ways I struggle and instead trust that Your power can shine through me in those exact spots. Amen.
