Getting Rich the Right Way
What if you could build a treasure that would never disappear and never let you down? The apostle Paul tells Timothy exactly how to do it — and it doesn’t involve a bank account! It involves something far more powerful: a generous heart.
What Does This Mean?
Paul wrote this advice to Timothy to pass on to wealthy people in his community, but the message applies to everyone. Being “rich in good works” means having a life full of helping others, sharing what you have, and doing what is right. Paul calls this storing up treasure — building a solid foundation for the future. And at the end, he says this is what “truly life” looks like. In other words, real living isn’t about collecting stuff — it’s about pouring yourself out for others.
Hero Challenge
Make a “Good Works List” this week — every time you do something kind, generous, or helpful, write it down. At the end of the week, read your list as a prayer of thanksgiving to God, who helped you build that treasure.
Did You Know?
The book of 1 Timothy was written by Paul as a personal letter to a young pastor named Timothy, who was leading the church in Ephesus. Paul wanted to make sure that the community there understood money and wealth the right way — as tools for generosity, not goals to chase. Timothy was probably in his early 30s when he received this letter!

Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Paul says being generous stores up treasure. What kind of treasure do you think that is, and where is it stored?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Paul says this is how people “take hold of that which is truly life.” What do you think the difference is between existing and truly living?
