Mission Briefing
God Puts You Back Together
Have you ever felt broken – like something hard happened and you just didn’t feel okay? Peter has incredible news for you straight from God. Hard times don’t last forever. And when they end, God Himself – not just a helper, but God Himself – personally restores and rebuilds you. That’s a promise worth holding on to!
What Does This Mean?
This verse has four powerful action words: restore, establish, strengthen, and support. Each one describes something God personally does for us after we go through hard times. Restore means He fixes what was broken. Establish means He makes us rock-solid and stable. Strengthen means He builds up our inner power. Support means He holds us up. And notice – it says “a little while.” Even the longest, hardest seasons of our life are “a little while” compared to the eternal glory God has called us to.
Hero Challenge
Write each of these four words on a sticky note and put them somewhere you’ll see them this week: RESTORE, ESTABLISH, STRENGTHEN, SUPPORT. Every time you see them, remind yourself that this is what God promises to do for you after every hard season. If you’re in a hard time right now, pray each word as a request to God.
Did You Know?
Peter wrote this letter to believers who were scattered across several Roman provinces and experiencing real persecution for their faith. He knew what suffering felt like – he had denied Jesus three times, experienced crushing guilt, and then been completely restored by Jesus on the beach in John 21. He wasn’t just writing a theory; he was writing from personal experience of God’s restoration.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
If something you loved got broken, would you want someone to fix it? God promises to fix us when hard times make us feel broken. Isn’t that amazing?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Peter says God will “restore, establish, strengthen, and support” you. Which of those four words means the most to you right now, and why?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
Peter calls current suffering “a little while” compared to eternal glory. How does having an eternal perspective – knowing this life is just a tiny part of the whole story – change the way you handle pain and hardship today?
♥ Mission Prayer
God of all grace, thank You that You promise to restore, establish, strengthen, and support me after every hard season. Help me to hold on through the "little while" knowing that You are coming to put me back together stronger than before. Amen.
