Mission Briefing

Just Say It – He Will Forgive!

Have you ever done something you felt really bad about and just wished you could start over with a clean slate? God made a way for exactly that! First John 1:9 is one of the most comforting promises in the entire Bible – when we are honest with God about our mistakes, He promises to forgive and to clean us up completely. This mission explores 1 John 1:9.

What Does 1 John 1:9 Mean?

“Confess” simply means to agree with God – to say, “Yes, I did that, and it was wrong.” When we do that, God does two powerful things: He forgives us, which means the guilt is gone, and He cleanses us, which means even the stain of sin is washed away. He is described as “faithful and just” – meaning He always keeps His promise, and it is fair because Jesus already paid the price for our mistakes. No sin is too big or too embarrassing for His forgiveness.

Hero Challenge

This week, practice the habit of quick confession – when you mess up (lose your temper, say something unkind, or make a bad choice), go to God right away instead of waiting. Just say, “God, I did that and it was wrong. Thank You for forgiving me.” Then receive His forgiveness and move forward free.

Did You Know?

John wrote his letter to people who were being told by false teachers that they had no sin – which sounds nice but is actually a trap! If you think you have no sin, you will never go to God for help. John wanted everyone to know the truth: we all mess up, but God’s forgiveness is always available, always ready, and completely real.

♥ Mission Prayer

God, I know I am not perfect, and I am grateful I do not have to be. Thank You for always being ready to forgive and cleanse me when I come to You honestly. Help me to be quick to confess and quick to receive Your forgiveness. Amen.
