What Does 1 Corinthians 13:7 Mean?

Paul says love “bears all things” – it can handle hard stuff without falling apart. It “believes all things” – love chooses to trust instead of always looking for the worst in people. It “hopes all things” – love never stops expecting good things from God and others. And it “endures all things” – love keeps going even when everything around it is falling apart. These four things together make love undefeatable!

The word Paul uses for “bears” in Greek is “stegō,” which can also mean “to cover” or “to protect.” It’s the image of a roof covering a house during a storm – love acts like a protective roof over relationships, keeping them from falling apart when storms come. Love is a shelter, not just a feeling!
