Mission Briefing
1 Chronicles 29:11 is King David talking – and David was one of the most powerful kings who ever lived. He had gold, armies, a palace, and a whole kingdom. And yet he stood up and said: “God, all of this is Yours.” Not mine. Not because I earned it. YOURS. That is humility – and it’s amazing coming from someone who had every reason to feel proud of himself. David understood something that changed everything: the stuff we have, the talents we carry, the good things in our lives – none of it really started with us.
Think about it. You didn’t choose your brain. You didn’t earn your lungs. You didn’t create the sun that keeps you warm. You didn’t invent music or laughter or strawberries. All of it – every single good thing – came from a God who is so great that the whole universe doesn’t even come close to being big enough for Him. Humility isn’t putting yourself down. It’s just being honest about where everything came from. And honestly? That’s a relief. You don’t have to hold the world together. That’s already taken care of.
What Does 1 Chronicles 29:11 Mean?
Humility changes the way you treat what you have. When you know your talents are a gift from God, you stop being arrogant about them. When you know your stuff came from God, you share more easily. When you know God holds everything, you stop trying to control everything. Try whispering “this is Yours, God” over something in your life today – your room, your skills, your friendships – and see how it feels.
Mission Activity
Get a piece of paper and draw everything you’re thankful for – your home, your family, your food, your toys, things you’re good at. Fill the whole page. Then at the top write: “All Yours, God.” Pray over it and give it back to Him. This is your “Yours, Lord” thanksgiving offering. (Note: the verse above is paraphrased to help younger readers connect with its meaning. The original is 1 Chronicles 29:11 NIV.)
♥ Mission Prayer
Dear God, help me remember that everything I have came from You. Help me not be proud like it's all mine. Thank You for sharing Your amazing world with me. You are great, and I'm so glad I belong to You. Amen.
