Mission Briefing
Faith Grows When You Listen!
Did you know that faith is like a muscle – it grows the more you use it? And one of the best ways to make your faith muscle stronger is actually really simple: LISTEN! Paul discovered something amazing about how faith works. Let’s check it out! This mission explores Romans 10:17.
What Does Romans 10:17 Mean?
Paul is saying that faith isn’t something we work up on our own – it grows when we hear God’s Word! Reading the Bible, listening to it being taught, hearing stories about what God has done – all of these plant seeds of faith in our hearts. The more time we spend with “the word of Christ” – the teachings and story of Jesus – the more our trust in God naturally grows.
Hero Challenge
Challenge yourself to “hear” God’s Word in a new way this week – listen to a Bible story podcast, have someone read a chapter aloud to you, or read your Bible passage out loud instead of silently. Notice how hearing it differently helps it stick in a new way. Faith is growing every time you do this!
Did You Know?
In the ancient world, most people couldn’t read – so faith really did come from HEARING the Scriptures read aloud! When Paul wrote his letters, someone would read them out loud to the whole church gathering. The Bible was meant to be heard together, not just read alone. This is part of why gathering together and sharing God’s Word with one another is so powerful.
