Mission Briefing
How Far Has God Thrown Your Sins?
If you threw a ball as hard as you could, how far do you think it would go? Now imagine throwing something from one side of the entire world to the other – that is how far God removes your sins from you! This mission explores Psalm 103:10-12.
What Does Psalm 103:10-12 Mean?
David is celebrating something incredible: God does not treat us the way our mistakes deserve. Instead, His love for us is as enormous as the distance from the earth to the sky – and He removes our sins so far away it is like they never existed. East and west never meet, so God’s forgiveness means your sins are truly gone, not just put on hold.
Hero Challenge
Write down one thing you feel guilty or embarrassed about on a small piece of paper. Then crumple it up, throw it as far as you can, and say out loud: “God has removed this from me – east from west!” Let that be a reminder of how completely He forgives.
Did You Know?
In ancient times, people knew that if you traveled east, you would never actually reach “west” – those directions go on forever. David chose this image on purpose to show that God’s forgiveness is infinite. There is no compass that can measure it, and no map that can find where your sins went!
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
How big is the sky above you? God’s love for you is even bigger than that! Can you think of something to thank God for?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Why do you think God chose to compare His forgiveness to “east from west” instead of “north from south”? (Hint: try a globe!)
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
This psalm says God does not treat us the way our sins deserve. How does knowing that change the way you treat others when they mess up?
♥ Mission Prayer
God, I am amazed that You do not treat me the way I deserve. Thank You for removing my sins so far away that they are completely gone. Help me to truly believe that I am forgiven, and to live with a grateful and free heart. Amen.
