Mission Briefing
The Greatest Act of Humility
What if the most powerful person in the universe chose to become a servant? That is exactly what Jesus did – and it is one of the most amazing things that has ever happened! This mission explores Philippians 2:7-8.
What Does Philippians 2:7-8 Mean?
Jesus is God, which means He has all power and glory. But He did not hold tightly to that power. Instead, He gave it up and became a human being – a baby, a child, a man – just like us. He even chose the hardest and most humble path of all: obeying God perfectly, all the way to dying on the cross. That is what real humility looks like.
Hero Challenge
This week, look for one way to serve someone without being asked – maybe carry groceries, clean up a mess you did not make, or let a sibling go first. Do it quietly, without expecting any praise or reward, just like Jesus served us.
Did You Know?
In Bible times, crucifixion was considered the most shameful way to die – it was saved for criminals. Yet Jesus, who had done nothing wrong, chose that path so we could be free. His humility was not weakness; it was the greatest strength ever shown.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
Can you name one way you can help someone in your family today – like picking up toys or giving someone a hug?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Jesus gave up being in charge to become a servant. What is something you are “in charge of” that you could use to help someone else instead?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
True humility is not thinking less of yourself – it is thinking of others more. How can you practice that kind of humility at school or at home this week, even when no one notices?
♥ Mission Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for giving up Your glory to become a servant for us. Help me to follow Your example and choose humility over pride every day. Teach me to serve others with a joyful heart, just like You did. Amen.
