Philippians 2:5

Mission Briefing

Think Like Jesus!

What if you could borrow the mind of the wisest, kindest, most powerful person who ever lived? According to the Bible, you can! Paul tells us to have the mind of Jesus – to think the way He thinks, value what He values, and see the world the way He sees it. This mission explores Philippians 2:5.

What Does Philippians 2:5 Mean?

Right before this verse, Paul tells the believers to be humble, to care for others, and not to look only at their own interests. Then he says – this is the attitude of Jesus. Having the mind of Christ means choosing humility over pride, others over yourself, and service over comfort. It’s not a feeling that comes automatically; it’s a choice you make because you belong to Jesus and His Spirit lives in you!

Hero Challenge

Before a tough situation this week – an argument, a decision, a tempting moment – pause and ask yourself: “What would Jesus think here? What would He value?” Practice “thinking like Jesus” in at least three situations, and write down what was different when you approached it His way versus your usual way.

Did You Know?

Paul wrote Philippians from prison, which makes this passage even more amazing. He was locked up, yet his letter is full of joy and love for others. He wasn’t just giving advice – he was living out the mind of Christ himself! Choosing to think like Jesus doesn’t depend on your circumstances. It’s a decision of the heart that changes everything around you.

Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question

What kind of things do you think Jesus thinks about? Do you think He is kind? What can you do today to think like Him?

Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question

What does it mean to think like Jesus? What are some differences between how Jesus thinks and how we naturally think sometimes?

Ages 10-13: Champion Question

Paul says this mind is “yours in Christ Jesus” – meaning it’s already available to you through your relationship with Him. How do you practically access it? What habits or disciplines help you think more like Jesus?

♥ Mission Prayer

Jesus, I want to think the way You think — with humility, love, and care for others. Transform my mind and help me see the world through Your eyes. When I'm tempted to be selfish or prideful, remind me of Your example and help me choose Your way. Amen.
