Mission Briefing
Luke 1:45 is Elizabeth’s joyful shout to Mary – “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” And oh, what a promise Mary had been given. An angel showed up and told her she would carry the Son of God. Impossible? It sounded like it. But Mary believed. Not with gritted teeth and crossed fingers – she really trusted that if God said it, God would do it. And He did.
Think about what it must have taken for Mary to hold onto that belief. She couldn’t see the ending yet. She had questions she couldn’t answer. People around her probably didn’t understand. But she kept the promise in her heart instead of letting doubt swallow it. Belief isn’t always easy. Sometimes it feels like standing in the dark holding a light you haven’t seen yet. But that’s exactly what faith is – and blessing follows the one who holds on.
What Does Luke 1:45 Mean?
God has made promises to you too – in His Word, through His character, in the way He’s faithful to everyone who trusts Him. Some of those promises might feel far away right now. You might not be able to see how they’ll come true. But the blessing comes to those who believe anyway. Like Mary, you can say: “I don’t know how this works out – but I trust that God will do what He said.” That kind of belief isn’t naive. It’s brave. And it’s the exact kind God rewards.
Mission Activity
Write or draw a “Promise Page.” Find one promise from the Bible that feels important to you – it could be one from this mission, or ask a parent to help you find one. Write it in your own words in the center of the page. Decorate around it with stars, flowers, or anything that feels hopeful. Keep the page somewhere you’ll read it daily this week. Practice believing it out loud every morning. (Note: the verse above is paraphrased to help younger readers connect with its meaning. The original is Luke 1:45 NIV.)
♥ Mission Prayer
Dear God, help me believe Your promises even when I can't see how they'll come true. Like Mary, let me say yes to what You've planned, even when it sounds impossible. I trust that what You say, You will do. Amen.
