Fair Judgment: Treating Everyone Equally

Welcome, Faith Force Justice Keepers! Today, we’re learning about God’s call for fairness and equal treatment, as taught in Leviticus 19:15.

Verse Of The Day:

"Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly." (Leviticus 19:15)

Leviticus 19-15

Have you ever been treated unfairly because of who you are or what you have? Or maybe you’ve seen someone get special treatment just because they’re popular or important? God has something important to say about this in Leviticus 19:15!

This powerful verse begins with a clear command: “Do not pervert justice.” This means we shouldn’t twist or change what’s fair and right. Then God gives specific examples of how justice gets perverted: by showing “partiality to the poor” or “favoritism to the great.”

Interestingly, God warns against unfair treatment in both directions! We shouldn’t favor someone just because they’re poor and we feel sorry for them, and we shouldn’t favor someone just because they’re rich, powerful, or important. Instead, God calls us to “judge your neighbor fairly,” treating everyone with the same fairness and respect.

When this command was given to the Israelites, it was revolutionary! Most ancient societies had different rules for different people based on their status. But God wanted His people to be different, creating a community where everyone was treated equally under the law.

This verse teaches us that true justice is blind to a person’s status, wealth, or position. Whether someone is rich or poor, popular or unknown, we should treat them with the same fairness and respect. This reflects God’s character, because He doesn’t show favoritism but loves each person equally.

Let’s practice being fair judges in our everyday lives—treating everyone the same way, regardless of who they are!

"Fair Scales" Decision Helper:

Create a simple balance scale using a clothes hanger, string, and two small paper cups or containers. Label one cup “Person A” and the other “Person B.” When you need to make a decision about how to treat different people (like who gets the first turn, who gets to choose the game, etc.), use your scale as a visual reminder to be completely fair. Place a small object in each cup to represent each person, and make your decision based on what’s fair, not on who the person is. Decorate your scale with the words “Judge Fairly” to remember God’s command!

Time For A Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for teaching us to be fair with everyone. Help us not to show favoritism based on who someone is or what they have. When we need to make decisions about how to treat others, remind us of Your command to judge fairly. Help us to see others the way You see them—as equally valuable and worthy of fair treatment. Make us people who stand for true justice in our homes, schools, and communities. Amen.

Be fair judges, Faith Force Justice Keepers! Until our next Divine Dispatch, remember that God calls us to treat everyone equally, without favoritism or partiality. Let’s practice God’s kind of justice by being fair with everyone we meet!
