Mission Briefing

Jesus Prayed With His Whole Heart!

Did you know that even Jesus prayed with everything He had – sometimes crying out loud with tears? This verse shows us the most powerful and honest prayer ever prayed. Let’s discover what it means to pray with our whole heart! This mission explores Hebrews 5:7.

What Does Hebrews 5:7 Mean?

This passage is talking about Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, the night before He was crucified. He was facing something terrifying and painful, and He brought every bit of that to God in prayer. “Supplications” means desperately asking for help. God heard Jesus – not because Jesus was perfect at praying the right words, but because of His deep reverence and trust in God. This means God hears YOUR honest, heartfelt prayers too!

Hero Challenge

Sometimes we think we have to pray perfect, polished prayers. This week, try praying an “honest prayer” – tell God exactly how you feel, even if it’s scared, angry, confused, or sad. You can even write it down! God is not afraid of your real feelings.

Did You Know?

The Garden of Gethsemane was an olive grove on the Mount of Olives, just outside Jerusalem. Olive trees can live for thousands of years, and some trees in that garden today may be descendants of the very trees that were there when Jesus prayed! “Gethsemane” means “olive press” in Hebrew – a place where olives are crushed to produce oil, a fitting picture of the weight Jesus carried that night.

Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question

Have you ever cried because something felt really hard or scary? Jesus did too! And He talked to God about it. What hard thing can YOU tell God about today?

Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question

Why do you think God wants us to be honest in our prayers, even about scary or sad things?

Ages 10-13: Champion Question

Jesus was heard “because of his reverence” – His deep respect and trust in God. How does reverence for God change the way you approach prayer, especially when you’re going through something really hard?

♥ Mission Prayer

Father, thank You that I can come to You with all my feelings — even when I'm scared or sad. Just like Jesus, help me to trust You completely, even in the hard moments. Amen.
