Mission Briefing
Walk Like Love Everywhere You Go
Have you ever noticed how some people seem to bring warmth and joy into every room they walk into? That is what Paul is talking about when he says to “walk in love” – make love the way you move through life! This mission explores Ephesians 5:2.
What Does Ephesians 5:2 Mean?
Paul tells us to model our lives after the love Jesus showed us – a love so big that He gave Himself up completely for our sake. “Walk in love” means that love is not just a feeling we have sometimes; it is the way we go through every single day. Every conversation, every action, every decision – all of it can be done in love.
Hero Challenge
Before you leave your house each day this week, say a prayer asking God to help you “walk in love” in every moment – at school, at home, and with your friends. At dinner, share one story with your family about a moment you chose love that day.
Did You Know?
Paul describes Jesus’s sacrifice as a “fragrant offering” to God. In the Old Testament, when priests offered sacrifices to God, a sweet smell would rise up as a sign of worship. Paul is saying that Jesus’s act of love was like the most beautiful, perfect offering ever made – and our acts of love carry that same beautiful quality when done for God’s glory.
Ages 4-6: Little Hero Question
If love was a smell, what do you think it would smell like? How can you be a “sweet smell” of love to someone today?
Ages 7-9: Growing Hero Question
Paul says Jesus “gave himself up for us.” What does it mean to give yourself up for someone? Can you think of a small way to do that for a friend or family member?
Ages 10-13: Champion Question
What does it practically look like to “walk in love” when you are having a bad day, or when someone has been unkind to you? How does looking at Jesus’s example help?
♥ Mission Prayer
Lord, help me to walk in love today — not just when it is easy, but all day long in every situation. Thank You that Jesus showed me what love really looks like by giving everything for me. Let my life be a sweet offering to You. Amen.
