Connected to Jesus, Growing Together!
Welcome, Faith Force Connected Body Builders! Today, we’re learning how the church grows when we’re all connected to Jesus, as shared in Ephesians 4:15-16.
Verse Of The Day:
"Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." (Ephesians 4:15-16)
Have you ever noticed how your body parts are all connected? Your hand connects to your arm, which connects to your shoulder, which connects to your body, which connects to your HEAD! Paul teaches us that the church works exactly the same way!
“Speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.” Jesus is the HEAD of the church! Just like your head controls your body and tells it what to do, Jesus leads and guides the church. We’re all parts of His body, and when we follow Him, we grow and mature!
“From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” This is how growth happens! The whole body is JOINED together – connected like ligaments connect bones and muscles. When we’re all connected to Jesus (the Head) AND to each other, something amazing happens – the body “grows and builds itself up in love”!
But here’s the key – “as each part does its work.” Every person has to do THEIR job! If your feet refuse to walk, your hands refuse to help, or your eyes refuse to see, the body can’t function! When each person in the church does their work while staying connected to Jesus, the WHOLE church grows stronger and bigger!
You’re not just sitting around – you’re an important working part helping the body grow!
My Connected Body Builder:
Draw a simple body outline with Jesus labeled as “THE HEAD” at the top. Draw yourself and others as body parts (arms, legs, hands, feet, heart) all connected by lines to Jesus and to each other. On each body part, write what job that person does (helps others, teaches, serves, encourages, gives, prays). Remember – when each part does its work while connected to Jesus the Head, the whole body grows! This week, do YOUR part’s work!
Time For A Prayer:
Dear God, thank You that Jesus is the Head of the church and we're all parts of His body! Help us stay connected to Jesus and to each other. Show us what work You want US to do, and help us do it faithfully. Make the whole body grow and build itself up in love! Amen.
