Jesus' Secret to True Happiness!
Welcome, Faith Force Joy Discoverers! Today, we’re learning Jesus’ surprising happiness secret, as shared in Acts 20:35.
Verse Of The Day:
"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" (Acts 20:35)
Have you ever noticed that getting presents feels good but helping others feels even better? Jesus revealed an amazing happiness secret!
Paul reminds us of “the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.'” This seems backwards at first! Getting gifts is fun, but Jesus says giving them is MORE blessed. “Blessed” means happy, joyful, and deeply satisfied.
Jesus discovered that givers experience a special kind of joy that receivers don’t get! When you give your time, help, or resources to others, you feel fulfilled in a way that receiving never quite achieves. Receiving brings temporary happiness, but giving creates lasting blessing. Paul says we should “help the weak” – using our strength to assist those who need it. Try this experiment: compare how you feel getting a gift versus giving one. Jesus was right – giving really is more blessed!
Blessed to Give Happiness Meter:
Make a dial using a paper plate with sections labeled “Joy from Receiving” and “Joy from Giving.” Add a movable pointer using a brad fastener. This week, do experiments – receive something, then give something. Move your pointer to show which brought deeper, longer-lasting happiness!
Time For A Prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank You for teaching us that it's more blessed to give than receive! Help us discover the special joy that comes from giving and helping others. When we're tempted to be selfish, remind us that givers experience deeper happiness. Make us generous people who know the blessing of giving! Amen.
